The whole point of Stirner's work was to serve as a foil to Marx and Engels and everything from the writing style to accounts of the man points to him being a fabrication by one or both of the men.
"Max Stirner" wasn't real. Marx and Engels created him and his cult so they could have an imaginary conflict and enemy to give more legitimacy to their own work.
