well for the first one he might just pick something else off the menu instead. even if they have to refund either way it might come off as a bit abrasive to just tell him that he got a refund so it's polite to ask if he would like one despite not having a choice.
for the car he could have rented it or be borrowing it from a friend so it's not obvious that he bought it. regardless it's clear that the asker wasn't aware the person was looking to buy a new car at all, so they're just asking the question with the expectation that he'll elaborate on why he decided to get a new one for the sake of conversation
same with the movie. obv he's going to go watch, but his mum is trying to make conversation about what he's going to see or if he's doing anything else tonight without coming across as prying by asking specific questions

>>15652040yeah, twitter is really getting out of hand recently. for a long time 2mb images were absurd to see on there and if they were big it was usually because they didn't even have lossless compression ran on them. the other day though i saved a 4.5mb yoejin that was already as small as it was getting without reducing quality
