canada passed, and it's no longer independence day, but here's a story involving canada day i guess

>i was young at the time, maybe nearing age 10
>me and the family are gathered for the fireworks, uncle is setting them off
>me and my cousin are sitting on my grandpas knees
>apparently a firework fell over and was lit
>rocketimound
>it flies toward us, but my grandpa grabbed me and my cousin and dropped to the ground to avoid being hit
>everyone ended up ok

and even then i still had close encounters with fireworks going off in the fire place and exploding right next to me
