>>15665178>what is decent money? There's a point, usually somewhere in the $75k-100k range depending on where you live where life gets significantly less stressful than it is at a lower income level.
You don't have to worry about how you're going to pay bills or make ends meet. You don't really need to make compromises so that you'll have enough money to make it to the end of the month. If you need to go somewhere, you just buy a plane ticket and rent a hotel room without worrying about how you will pay for it. You can go out to nice restaurants and order whatever you want and don't need to worry about your card getting declined.
When you get to that point, life suddenly is a lot easier than before.
But as your income continues to grow after that, it's diminishing returns. The difference between a lifestyle earning $100k versus $300k isn't very significant.
You'll probably buy more stuff, bigger stuff, nicer stuff, but it's pretty much the exact same shit. Buying a vacation cabin in the mountains is nice, but it doesn't really make that much of a difference in the grand scheme of things.
And that's assuming that chasing a higher salary doesn't require more stress and exhaustion, which it usually does.
That's the trap a lot of people fall into. They work like dogs trying to make partner at the law firm or whatever, and their life overall sucks. They have more money but what's even the point when you are stressed out and exhausted 24/7.
