Anyway, reading is arguably the most productive hobby a person can have, whether they prefer fiction or non-fiction. A lot of the stigma surrounding books comes from parents and schools forcing kids to read "real literature" they couldn't give a rat's ass about. It was like that for me until I bought a John Green novel during freshman year in college and realized reading can be enjoyable and not just a chore. The feeling was insane, like I went from a toxic relationship into a healthy one and realized this was how I should have been treated all along.
Nowadays I read three-to-four books a month, and it's staggering how much it improved my conversational skills. Definitely get into it if you haven't, and don't be intimidated into reading something you dislike. Novels, short stories, non-fiction, fanfiction, comics--if it has words on a page, it's literature, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
