and imageboards are fucking dinosaur shit now anyway. people complain about discord all day but if 10 people on a discord can instantly and easily derail an imageboard then its just evidence to me that its objectively the better way for people to talk online. whatever gay plan anyone makes for an old /b/ board could be annihilated completely and utterly if it attracted even a smidgen of attention
the humour's not the same anymore either. people used to say epic and for the win entirely unironically and now everything is so irony laden and everyone's so self conscious that a lot of the things that were on old /b/ would be absolutely ridiculed now
tl;dr western culture's different, the demographics are different, the options available to people are different and whatever worked in 2004-2007 won't work today and there will never be anything like it again
