i think the idea is that counting isn't very often something you do out loud for other people, so especially if you're acquiring a language by living in a location or something then you'd very rarely if ever be forced to do it in your second language
to a lesser extent there's nothing to stop you from reading numbers in your native language regardless of context so long as you don't have to say them out loud
>>15845077i was the only caster and didn't bring any mid-level spells with saves that weren't concentration so i couldn't burn legendary resistances. i also rolled a 1 to hit with bigby's hand at some point which is unfortunate because crit failing was the only way for me to miss since my attack mod was higher than the boss's AC
probably the most painful is that i positioned myself fairly far at the start of the fight, ended up getting body blocked by an add, and the boss ended up just outside of counterspell range before dispelling another player's transformation into a dragon. it was really sad too since the DM was having a really hard time debating whether it was worth spending a whole turn on the dispel and i forgot counterspell had such a short range so i goaded him into it
