>>15905460The trick is managing your starch in your rice.
To make normal rice that you will mix with any other meat, curry, etc. you wash three times before cooking.
If you want a giant rice blob that is mush like cake, don't wash the rice before cooking.
If you want stickier rice for homemade sushi balls then just wash rice once, leaving a decent amount of starch.
General Purpose Rice Recipe:
Ingredients:
1 part rice, washed as needed see above
2 parts water.
Instructions:
bring water to a boil.
turn heat to lowest possible.
add rice and seasoning if you want to season the rice.
leave for 20 to 40 minutes depending on type of pot.
Do not remove lid when cooking, you need the heat to build up correctly.
If rice is too mushy or wet then you need to either use less water or add more time. every pot is different, which leads to a better method.
Buy a $10 rice cooker and follow its instructions super easy and makes great rice every time without maintenance.
I have used the same imasu for 5 years.
I season my rice with better than bullion, chicken stock from a crockpot, or other seasonings. Experiment to find what you like with rice. Some people love butter, salt, and pepper and that's what they know and love.
