As soon as it hit the mainstream though it was redefined by fat female journalists and bloggers to just mean overweight, and thus the original meaning is now lost and there is no shorthand anymore to talk about or praise that kind of body type. People might even be brainwashed into liking obese or overweight women just because curvy and thicc body types are talked up, except it's all because of the momentum that the original meaning of those body types had. It's just one more thing that parallels the world of 1984, language being redefined to simplify or delete discourse, or to brainwash.
