I used to be vegan for two years, back then whenever I tried to conjure up images in my mind, I couldn't do it. But when I started eating meat again I could do it.
I think it has something to do with b12 since I never took b12 supplements as a vegan.

its mostly bc of malnourishment i think, then generations of adapting to such malnourishment so such a lifestyle becomes ingrained, id imagine the farmer bantu of africa also have aphantasia
higher asians with historically nutrient rich diets of meats, milk, fish/shellfish prob dont have as much preponderance of aphantasia
like mongols, ancient seafaring austronesians, ainu, modern japanese (they are the only creative asians of the past millenium)

its also bc of high serotonin production which leads to anxious internal monologue and word dominance which happens bc of bacterial overgrowth (which directly produces serotonin) and low grade endotoxin poisoning causing a chronic stress response
contrary to what people might think serotonin is a stress hormone and its very very bad to have too much serotonin
the fact that you can die from too much serotonin (serotonin syndrome) cause by certain drugs (ssris cough cough) should hint towards this

Same. I think mainly in concepts and words, I'm genuienly unable to visualize the stuff I'm imagining (I still have vivid dreams though) but I can still imagine it, just in other ways. When thinking of an apple I can imagine the taste, look, smell,feel of it etc etc but I don't actually "see it". Is it aphantasia? Don't think so, I actually see myself as a pretty creative person, I daydream all the time and can come up with elaborate stories and descriptions very easily, I just don't "see" the "objects". Pretty wacky if you ask me.

It's not as if you can actually see it when you close your eyes. It's just that you can imagine it, and because of past experiences, you know exactly what it would look like. You can even imagine an image in motion and almost "see" it in a way. Do you see things in dreams? Do you narrate things in your head, and even though you can't actually hear anything, you know exactly what you sound like?

Two cases.
1. There can be a machine which can deceive you that the machine already knows what constitutes consciousness so you don't have to describe it; (it doesn't necessarily have to pass the turing test, showing that you don't have to describe consciousness is enough for disproving your point)
2. There can be a case where a person with consciousness genuinely doesn't know what English word "consciousness" means, and there isn't a proper word for "consciousness" in his/her native language, so therefore you have to explain and describe it.

The fact that you have to define consciousness in order to show someone lacks consciousness is the reason turing test is still widely used despite its incompleteness.

Then how can you tell someone other than you has consciousness or not? I can write a code which infinitely prints "I recognize my own existence in the world and my own relation to the world" but it doesn't mean the code I supposedly wrote has consciousness

But based on my observations I feel there are some telltail signs that somebody might not actually possess consciousness. An inability to introspect. A lack of critical thought. The need for conscious stimulation. Adherence to authority with no questions being asked. All these things point to a lack of conscious thought.
