I feel a certain draw to Christianity. However, I don't believe anything the Bible says. I don't believe in an omnipotent eternal being who created this shit world. I don't want to conform to any particular sect.
I was raised in a heavily evangelical household where everything in the Bible was taken as fact. As a result, I came to hate Christianity and everything it stood for. But, recently I've been stepping into churches, and feeling an overwhelming sense of peace. A feeling of mistakes being forgiven and of acceptance. I think this might just be a psychological hangover from when I was a child and found comfort in the routine of church and its traditions, but I believe that culturally, that is where my roots lie. So I'd become Christian for political reasons as well.
I just think there's something about being invested in spirituality that brings a certain joy to the soul, and one that I struggle to find when I'm completely dedicated to cold, logical atheism.
