>>16056632There are already signs of this happening. One flop can slide by financiers, investors, and shareholders. But five, ten? "Free money" is also drying up with rising interest rates. Hence the cancellation of Batgirl before it was even released. They did a slew of test screenings, saw how much people hated the "wokeness," and realized it was going to be an absolute disaster. So rather than spend all the additional money on marketing, etc. on an already over-budget production, they canned it. Purely economic decision--and a painful one to make.
Rings of Power was such a huge capital investment for Amazon Studios that it's going to have to outperform some of the best-performing films in the history of the industry to net a fair return for shareholders. And, given the aforementioned state of investment/financing--coupled with the fact that Amazon Studios has already seen some pretty spectacular failures (*cough*Wheel of Time*cough)--a financial failure for the series is going to make executives think very, very seriously about keeping Amazon Studios.
And when the verdict comes back that "it was all the woke" that killed the show's viewership, that's gonna pretty well sink the last nail into the coffin. At the end of the day, companies have a legal responsibility to their shareholders, and they're not going to just keep losing money.
