well, that's presuming visiting the city is desirable. i don't find visiting paris or london desirable so to me the equation was pay a bunch of money to visit a place you hate just to link up with a m8. after i graduated a friend took his doctorate in vienna and that would have been a cool place to visit but unfortunately i no longer had the free time necessary.
