I think the most obvious and jarring change to the status quo would be a dismantlement of Judeo-Christian values and cultural facets. I like to think that because the protestant "work ethic" is synonymous with global capitalism and it was thusly incorporated into the capitalist ideology that it no longer becomes protestant. Perhaps a supplanted religion or no religion at all would provide the amount of room for real change in the world.
