Fellow parents of /pol/,

What are the political implications of allowing children to watch pic related (cocomelon)?

I have 5 children and they are all homeschooled as well as limited interaction with YouTube/streaming/movies/tv shows/commercials. But in efforts to not completely shelter them, I allow them to watch some movies (even a couple current ones that aren’t blatant propaganda) as well as watch YouTube, and I’ll even let my oldest have an iPad to play games and watch browse the internet.

But as a man, I’m willing to admit, especially on the weekend, I need some peace and quiet. It’s next to impossible to complete errands/tasks around the house sometimes so, especially with my two youngest, I’ll put pic related on for like 45min-1 hour. It’s beginning to be too eerie to see how it puts them in a trance. Or maybe I’m just being paranoid? I just look at them while they are looking at the screen and I feel they’re being programmed and/or being taught to not have an attention span.

One of the said youngest sometimes will not stop or allow herself to be distracted by anything other than cocomelon. I might be going full tinfoil mode but I’ve been finding it increasingly difficult to entertain some of my children without it or some form of a screen.

What do y’all do when you need to get things done. Any anecdotal experiences with cocomelon or any other show? How much screen time is too much? If allowed screen time, what’s something you find that’s “healthy” to consume while also still entertaining them?

My children are all well behaved and properly disciplined, eat healthy, and have great relationships with us. But I just don’t want any of them “getting” ADHD or what have you. Have you seen how it went from seeing one child in the shopping cart at the store on a tablet to almost every child in the store being on a tablet?
