like lol threw out all the cool mechanics that were great in wc3 and dota all stars like warding, hiding behind trees, turn rates, attribute system and many more
also heroes have much more diverse and interesting mechanics and most items actually have an active use rather just granting passive abilities and actually require thought and skill to use rather than just mindlessly spamming skillshots
on top of that in dota all heroes are unlocked from the start and every player has equal chances at the start of the match rather than having to grind heroes endlessly and wondering whether they have the most suitable hero in ranked mode while drafting
