I often see on this board people claiming that trade between Asia and West Africa was poor, while also claiming Western Europe had easy access to Asia.
If both of those were true, why were Western Europeans the ones "incentivized" to sail into the open ocean looking for more efficient trade routes and not Western Africans?
Hell, the earliest sailing routes Europeans used to access the Indian ocean before Columbus pass by Western Africa on the way.
