Its why the US spends billions of dollars every year on supercomputers to "test" detonating them and see what will work and not work as more and more of the isotopes decay. The H bombs have a syrofoam and the fusion fuel around the core too, that needs to be maintained too. Shit is fine to sit for a few years sure, but its been decades and russia has been clearly skimming their funds to pay for vodka and sex with little boys.
