Discourage the Americans' excessive patriotism and arrogance/self-righteousness while simultaneously befriending them. Americans are actually super friendly people it's just that those two traits I mentioned above ruin what are otherwise great people.
This is why I (again, unironically) almost consider Canada as good as Aus. They're basically this "optimal American" I've described (with the downside of being a bit more cuck-like).
