Most of the US outside of the big cities is infrastructurally a third world country (understandably so in the most rural places, given the sheer size of the territory, the scaling of costs, not so elsewhere).
I mean I do love (well, some of) the people, but seriously, the level of jingoism on display there is insane sometimes, and in my experience only the Russians have them beat on that. So many US citizens that have no actual knowledge of what other countries are like, have an inflated vision of their own situation, that illusion of somehow being unique and/or exemplary ("only in America"), and /better/, which barely a cursory glance at the rest of the world could disprove.
