Regardless, it's a very small percentage. I have mixed thoughts on these kinds of people though. In some ways I actually envy them. They hold a blissfully ignorant view of the world and live in a bubble of comfort that few people have ever experienced. That's kind of amazing, and never feeling the pressure of having to grow up sounds nice.

But then you realize they're likely miserable on the inside, tormented by all kinds of things that, had they just pushed themselves a little more or left their comfort zone, are foreign to others their age. Once you take on more responsibility in life you naturally see how weak this overconsumption makes you and they clearly have few responsibilities. In that way I pity them. Being a manchild is one of the worst curses life can cast on you.

You get these guys in the UK too, they usually work 9-5 office jobs in tech or some form of middle-management administration in an office somewhere. I've only worked in an office a couple of times, once was for a bank which hired a lot of tech graduates, and there were scores of guys like this in their 30's and 40's talking about the latest Star Wars movie or whatever.
Effectively, I don't think these people ever did grow up. Most of them went straight from school into university, and then into a sedentary office job where they earn way more money than they really should be (think like £60,000 a year for a low-level coding position) which is how they can afford all the plastic shit that they buy. They never had to work to find a job, or budget on a low income, deal with shitty housing, or really any of the shit that regular people have to deal with. And so they are comfy and fat, and were never exposed to the real world in the ways that you or I might've been.
They are children in so many ways. And while I envy to a degree their enthusiasm over such banal corporate slop I also appreciate the fact that my upbringing allows me to find meaning in things like relationships, nature, even just the simple fact that I have a roof over my head and food in my belly. So while they are gross and disgusting, they are naive like children and should be pitied more than anything as victims who bought into a system of corporate servitude. They did what they were told, and look what they have become.
