Women care because it's "unfair" since all women do is try to maintain their youthful appearance. hard to beat someone actually younger.
Young men care because relatively older men are more confident, wealthy, and "physically attractive" as they get older (according to women).
The rule is the legal limit, but in practice younger people are typically insufferable, so you've got to take other preferences into account. But would you really deny yourself a younger girl because of some arbitrary rule you imposed on yourself if she was actually tolerable?
