Last time I made a PC, the modular ones were seen as a load of shit. Has the tech changed?
Back in my day, mobos were just normal looking green PCBs and there were no RGB lights.

Nah I last built one in 2011. I think it was right around the time when SSDs started to show up on the market and my friends had never even heard of one. I had 8GB of ram and that was a pretty good back then.
Now even SSDs are old school, I got a 4TB m.2 ssd today and it looks like nothing. I don't understand how 4TB can fit on this tiny cracker thing.

Ok, you're afraid dding an extra connection between the PSU and other parts does add a point that could fail, but don't worry. I have never heard of a PSU modular cable failing. They're plugged in once, then left alone until you upgrade. The cable will never break.

That's almost right. It's got 128GB of ram and a 16 core CPU. The part I bought yesterday was a 4TB nvme ssd.
I do a lot of 3D modeling and vidya when I can. I love having a nice computer and I get paid well so I wanted to treat myself to something at the top end of the ddr4 gen.
