I've never measured grip strength but I deadlift 230Kg without any wrist straps, just raw. So is that 115Kg grip strength in each hand? I could probably do 250Kg, but my back would give out before my grip.

When I was younger I wanted to improve grip to support deadlift. I started with those grip trainer things you squeeze, but I only saw real improvement from doing farmers carries. I started with (I shit you not) 2Kg dumbbell in each hand. But the trick is I would walk for half an hour holding them firmly without a rest. It's very painful at first. Now years later I can do a 1 hour walk holding 12Kg dumbbell in each hand without a rest and barely notice.

Is there a reason you are not training grip? I have one of those grip trainers that go from nothing to 300 lb, they're pretty good. You can use anything really, dumbbells, plates, even water jugs.

That’s not the way grip strength works. Grip is measuring how many kilos of force your fingers can generate. Once your hand is closed you can lift a lot more than your grip. Unless you’re using your fingers to deadlift rather than your legs and back.

I assume that by simply holding ~250lbs raw in each hand during a deadlift would imply that I must have that much in grip strength. I think raw I could potentially be upwards of 320ish lbs in each hand, raw. They don't make grip trainers that I can't squish like putty now. Perhaps it's a "negative" in the strength training sense, which would imply that I'm 1.6x stronger just holding the bar versus squeezing (60% uplift on strength on just negatives). In that case 320lb/1.6 = 200lb grip, or 91Kg.

I can support my body weight with one hand, that's about 100 kg. Also, I can lift cement slabs and I can hold up to two 5 gallon water bottles (can't do more than two because of the shape of the bottles), so I think my grip strength is sufficient.

I have no idea what that is. I've used all kinds of grip trainers because I had relatively small hands and wanted to break 500lbs deadlift (which I can now do relatively easily). Grip training with those squeezing devices did very little compared to farmers carries. I have forearms like Popeye now, but then I am also a blacksmith, so I use grip for a living.

I never did a grip strength test. The fact I can support my own body weight with one hand would indicate my grip strength is at least 100 kg (otherwise I'd fall, obviously).

I think perhaps your grip strength would be X / 1.6 your static negative, just as with most weight training. Since grabbing and holding is arguably a resistance (negative), you get a 60% muscular advantage. So divide by 1.6, that said I could be completely wrong about this. Just speculating.

That is not how grip strength is measured. I deadlift 300kg, that’s 150kg per hand in locked mode. But my grip strength is only 93 (see it as your crush strenght)
