>>16391432I agree that a lot of anime tropes are cringe, and the fans certainly don't do it any favors, but I wouldn't say the whole genre is cringe. Howl's Moving Castle, Lupin III, Spirited away, I want to eat your pancreas, these are wonderful forms of art that represent geuine human emotion.
Now a lot of shounen anime is hot garbage, especially the loser 15 year-old boy who is boring as hell, but has god like abilities and like 12 underaged girls trying to fuck him, and is clearly a self-insert for the reader and author. That stuff is crap because the characters suck and there's nothing to the story more than actions the reader thinks they would do in that situation, it's just power fantasy, and a lot of the shitty media out there is like that, so I wouldn't disregard a whole genre from just the trash that floats to the surface.
