Two Christians at my interdenominational Bible study got kicked out for arguing and disrupting our meeting. The reason? Halloween. The Catholic in our group said that Halloween was not a sin but the Evangelical in our group called Halloween a violation of 3 John 1:11 about not being imitators of evil.
The reason they got kicked out wasn't a disagreement of doctrine but rather a hyperfocus on both believing the other was going to Hell. The Catholic said the Evangelical was honoring and giving credence to demons by NOT celebrating Halloween as it sounds as though he believes the pagan claims that spirits are more accessible that day. The Evangelical claimed that Halloween and Christianity are incompatible.
So what the fuck. I remember doing Halloween stuff with my Catholic family, right now I just go to interChristian things but I find myself agreeing with the Catholic here for once more than the supposedly welcoming non-denominational.
Which is it? Should Christians condemn or support Halloween?
