definitely a weird scenario though. i definitely believe shoveling takes forever and that would certainly make it a dick move to intentionally swipe someone's spot, but like you're saying unless you're just close with all your neighbors it's going to be super unclear whether a spot is actually available or not
i wouldn't think this guy's response to be unreasonable if the person who took his spot is a known dickhead, but if it's just some rando then op is definitely mentally ill for attributing it to malice
