After a long time knowing them, played vidya with them for a couple years but they increasingly got more rambunctious and it didn't feel like banter anymore I was just getting teased every moment I spoke

It really depends on the culture. The reason it seems like I am so harsh on users here at times is because with my people we bust each others balls as humour. I don't really know why we are like that, but it is never mean spirited. So, if OP were to meet me, I would be the catalyst to this thread. I guess, culture clash? To be completely honest, it was fairly high effort banter. They were really funny guys, especially when they were having fun w me instead of harassing me, I'm just not equipped to deal with nonstop banter.
