>>16505361>>16505401When a woman becomes a grandma super young (think early-mid 30s) lots of times they'll encourage their grandkid to call them some cutesy name like this because they are self conscious of the word grandma because they think they're too young. It sticks as the kid grows up. I find this especially common in situations where the grandparents raised the kid, and it is one of the most american things I can think of.
