People construct what they feel first and then have the mind rationalize it later via ideology, and complexity. The underlying 'will' or a person is their heart and what they love doing, that spark cannot be changed or destroyed. That is why in these arguments with left vs right, rich vs poor, etc all the rational 'truthful' points are irrelevant illusions we subconsciously create to justify our passions.
