It was over even 10 years ago. You had no idea what kind of good shit you could get at fucking Goodwill of all places in 2009. They almost GIVING away NES, SNES and N64 games. I got so much good shit. First party Nintendo games for $3. Consoles for $7. I remember I had so many "retro" games that I would pass on shit because I already owned it. I would just leave copies of Zelda OOT and Chrono Trigger because I already owned them. Hipster faggots began to take note of this around 2011 and the thrift stores noticed as well. By 2011 it was almost impossible to find good shit in the wild. In 2022 now all goodwill sells is literal trash. Fuck hipsters.
If only I knew.

I remember back around that time all the video rental places around me were going out of business. I walked into one that was selling off all their inventory and you could buy any ps3/360 game they had for like $5. A lot of the disks were recent releases and looked like they had never been out of the box lol.

In 2006 a toys r us opened up near me and they were supposed to open sooner so they old Gameboy games were all $5. I bought leaf green and fire red even tho I already had played them. Gave the unopened games to my gf at the time since her mom had an ebay store. Wish I held onto them.

Simple, kids grow up, make money and buy the things they wanted when they were kids. Another thing is that once the price reaches a certain level, people begin to start doing things like speculate on it continuing to rise while some people end up thinking that because its expensive its somehow more desirable. If you tell people that a game costs 10 dollars, they'll just think its cheap trash. Tell someone it costs 1000 dollars and the price tag alone makes them think more highly of them.

Personally I'm happy I managed to collect most of my games before the markets started being retarded. Bought Doom for like 20 bucks probably 15 years ago, probably goes for above 400 now.

Zoomer logic. The best games that ever came out were the Zelda series on Nintendo/Nintendo 64 and 1998's Game of the Year Golden Eye. And I would have to give a nod to Super Mario Brothers Tomb Raider and resident evil. The graphics have gotten MUCH better but the games are woke bullshit. anita sarkeesian accomplished what she set out to do, which is ruin gaming. I haven't bought a console since the PS3. There WERE female protagonists in gaming but it wasn't enough for the feminists and the trannies. So they used the internet as a bully pulpit to feed their narcissism and ruin video games.

Kinda glad I went down that road as a kid, missed some Xbox titles and had a GameCube long enough to play Wind Waker and Chibi Robo, but am all nostalgic for the cheapest available games. I have a decent little collection growing. Definitely don't want to overdue it though, you can't buy back the 2000s.
