I've used multiple distros on many different laptops and there never were any issues with hardware
the only thing that doesn't work on linux out of the box are nvidia gpus but that can be resolved by installing a single package whearas on windows if you want to install a wacom driver you first have to spend an hour looking for a specific dll on shady website bc shitdows update forgot to suck it from redmond
