Just look what a center of culture Egypt was under Greek rule. Or how hellenistic thought imbued the biblical authors, or how it would create a cultural interaction between Europe and places as far as India. Alexander the Great is the one that merged Europe with Asia. He laid the groundworks for much that would later occur.
