There is no reason to own a "pet". A dog does nothing but eat food and shit (which you have to pick up). A cat does nothing but eat food, shit in the neighbors flowerbed and kill birds. A bird does nothing but eat food, shit, and hate its existence because, guess what, birds don't like living in cages. There is no reason to own any animal that is not a working animal, or some kind of rescue. Breeding animals for the express purpose of being pets is a wasteful use of resources. Also, most dog and cat nutters are limp-wristed s0ys who use them as a substitute for having an actual family. No, your dog or cat does not love you, it sees you as a roof and a source of food. Anthropomorphising animals is a low IQ/midwit phenomenon.

There is no reason to own a pet. You do not need an animal to be your "companion". Animals are for working and food, nothing more.
