>This is a HUGE, MUCH NEEDED step in the right direction of anime (yes, i know, manga) writing, where the main character is someone adults can relate to. Denji (main character) isn't a typical "HUUU, I"M STRONK I WANNA SAVE THE VILLAGE" character, no, he doesn't give a fuck if you die or don't, and thank god for that. Most of us are aware that humans aren't necesserily "good", and yes we would do anything to save our beloved ones, but who cares what happens to this one dude I don't know. You might think it's sad, but it's just reality. Denji also has other goals - playing video games with a girl, eating all types of foods, not having to work. All fucking very relatable to adults who have been through many girlfriends and drama that comes with it, we just wanna game and be left alone. I don't wanna work, I don't wanna go out of my way to help a random stranger, Ilet me just play my shit. Denji is the embodiment of all mens purest dreams and goals, so that's a great start, a show where you can actually relate to the main character, which means that the choices he makes will actually make sense deeper in the story, and provides so much room for character development. And this is essentially the most important thing in writing - make it real and relatable. If i was in the position of the character, would i do the same? If yes, that's extremely good writing.
