I recently had a (false, thank Allah) health scare and decided to switch from a typical western diet to eating once a day (OMAD/intermittent fasting) and cooking my own meals from basic ingredients like potatoes, mushrooms, chicken breast, etc. No more sugar or bread or pasta products, nor processed food.

My expenses have gone down ~80% and my depression has declined by approximately the same amount. Home renovation projects are getting done, family relations are getting mended, and big money is getting saved. I don't even feel hunger any more despite being at a calorie deficit and losing a couple pounds a week. My meals are preplanned and fucking excellent.

Please try fasting and avoiding processed food for at least a week to see if you can reap similar benefits.
