I sieged this large city recently, it was the last one. I decieved the faction I was fighting into giving me its settlements in exchange for peace which i immediately broke like after a turn
It was quite cinematic. Bust downed the gates with trebuchets along with its archer towers, business as usual, sent the boys in to distract the enemy while I hurry my archers on the ramparts to shoot down on them
there was like 1300 of them, it was mad, I only brought 4 archers, whilst only using 3 on the ramparts that looked down on them. I had noticed they sent infantry to flank around and at this point i had also noticed my 3 archers were nearly all completely out of ammo so I called them down after they pelted them with arrows for little bit more. Lined them out side the city
Let me mention that the walls of this city were large. It was quite a sight to behold, not like the stone wall encased towns I was used to fighting. And to see these archers rain volley after volley of arrows on the enemy that seemingly was endless
You see to understand my strategy you must understand that the spearmen I had werent much, generals bodyguard could take out a chunk of them whilst just fighting them from horseback and this is the total vanilla beyond mod, to clarify they were the dismounted light cavalry units. So since having said this my strategy consists of rushing infantry to block off enemy advances while I try to get my archers on the ramparts as soon as possible to which I then called the infantry back so the arrows were more accurate
One unit of archers had over 400 kills
so let me get back to the point, i had just lined my 3 spent archers outside the town and called in my 3 general units to flank around and rush into town square to horse sandwich the second enemy general's bodyguard. The first enemy general's bodyguard was fighting my spearmen
