>>16670586I agree to an extent but I think disciplining your child physically in the right manner is still a good way to tech them right from wrong and the importance of punishment for bad behaviour. I wouldn't use the word beat because that implies excessive force.
My parents would smack me on the backside if I misbehaved as a child, they never hit me in the face and it was never more than one or two strikes. It was also only used for serious matters.
It helped to understand that my actions can lead to pretty serious consequences, it helped me understand the importance of physical dominance and it made me fear and respect my parents.
Now if they hadn't also shown me a lot of love or if they had beat me excessively, then I would only have feared them but not respected them.
