How come it's possible for one person to do a full video game but not possible for one person to do a full animated series?

there is a vocal minority/majority that would not appreciate a full movie with pixel art. there must be a lot of heart and soul. it's almost never a single person actually - the people that taught him, that wrote articles that helped him also contributed to the create of that full video game you mentioned

because animating is a lot harder then programming (even if most people would think its the other way around)
you need to draw almost every single layer individually and for 1 second of somehwat smooth movement you need at least 12 pictures per second (even though most go much higher)
also you need a storyboard and diffrent layers for such things as background too

Frame by frame is not the only way of animation and you can go down to like 8 fps

yes but without frame by frame, and under 12fps the soul gets lost.. then its not really animation anymore, copying some few layers is ok

the time consuimg part is true too, thats why more people are needed to get it done more quickly,

but even then sometimes the companys hiring those people want changes even when its already half done..
also mistakes can be seen more easily then in programming and are harder to fix

i wouldnt call myself that but i used to be really into animation when i was younger, also had online friends that worked in that field so i know a few things

the highest quality one person/indie animation is all coomer stuff and even that’s usually funded by patreons. but you can fire up rpg maker and make your touhou fanfiction game all by yourself

i have no idea how they do 2D animation but from my understanding every diferent prespective has to be a completely different drawing

sure making a 3d model is harder than drawing it but once you rig it the computer handles the perspective and IK and everything

im pretty sure that's why cheap animes rely on CG alot
