I've been fishing every now and then since childhood but 99% of that was just basic float fishing which was fun to an extent, but more that that it was very relaxing, just sitting in a forest on a shore of a small river with a rod, occasionally pulling out some fish... I've been trying my hand in spinning every now and then, but it never worked for me, until last year when it finally clicked and now it's literally all that i can think about all the time. You should try it if you have free time and suitable body of water nearby, and nowadays you can get decent gear for very cheap
