ITT:
To any of you anons that have dropped out, or got your GED, do you have any regrets? What made you do it? Is there any real difference as opposed to having a Diploma? I'm just a curious man wanting to hear your guys' stories

Dropped out at 16. Spent ten years as a cook. Went back to school at 30. Now halfway to a Bachelor's in electrical engineering.

Not gonna lie, it was a hard life. I've actually been too poor to eat, for long periods of time. And it took me a long time to get to where I could start to improve things.

Wouldn't quite say I regret it, because I did get a lot of life experience and perspective out of my career as a cook. And I needed to see for myself why school is important. Also, I really don't know how much a high school diploma would have changed anything, really. There are a lot of other factors, you know. Crapshoot either way.

Whenever I was in high school, a ton of my teachers would talk about how a lot of employers would look down on people with a GED instead of a diploma, and that you'd have a lower chance of earning a job because of it.

Did you also live alone for a majority of your time as a cook? Or did you mostly have friends and relatives at your side?
