Still though by all accounts they're one of the top companies to work for as a trucker. I get a lot of freight coming and going for my business and the gal who drives the FedEx Freight truck seems very happy with working for FedEx. I have shipped with XPO before, not sure how they treat the drivers but their customer service is a class act if you're trying to ship through them.
>>16705718It's almost as though when a freight company bills the shipper 12 grand and the driver only makes 5 it's not just a big fat guy in a tophat pocketing the difference, there's actually overhead, expense, and risk.
My old neighbor owned his own trucks and he had a mechanic there pretty much 40 hours a week fixing something or other. I think he did well all things considered but you definitely need to understand the true long term costs and have a plan when you're depreciating a 150,000$ piece of capital equipment which could potentially be worth 0$ at any time to make a living.
