The reason this works is because he is an overweight dumpy bald manlet. Imagine him looking like Gigachad. Takes away the whole making fun of him angle.
Much as we see Costanza as a dumbass of a baboon, we see Abos as primitive creatures who don't even really look completely human. It's easy to be applied by that. Lookism goes a long way.
