Nor Yung, nor Meyers-Briggs didn't give types any names. There are some conventional (from fitting jobs or book/historical characters) name tho and a billion of fanfiction. I haven't heard about the "The redditor" type name prior. 4-3 letter naming is the most used.

I think there's something to astrology as well, but don't have much arguments. Modern 16 personalities is a watered down version of Jung's observations. Put simply, everyone is different, but can have recurring personalities. N types are probably the only ones who have a soul, NT types are ubermensch, especially INTPs.

Analysis shows that the scores of Meyers brigs personality inventories are normally distributed rather than bimodal distributed. This means there aren't any personality types because if there were you would see 2 clusters of scores rather than 1.

MBTI predicts different types of personalities (I vs E for example) which would mean that there should be 2 peaks (one for I and one for E) in the distribution of personality scores for those tests (with a dip somewhere in between) but instead of seeing that we see that all the scores a clustered around a single mean with one peak (ie there are no personality dichotomies ).

It doesn't make much sense to classify someone who gets a 50.1% on the test as extroverted and most of the population falls somewhere in the middle. If half the population scored around 90% on extroversion and the other half scored and 10% on extroversion then it would indicate there are different types of personalities. But what we see is that most people score somewhere around 50% on extroversion so there aren't types, rather there are continuous ranges around a mean.

When someone takes an MBTI test there is an underlying score that they got depending on how they answered the question.

For instance if I answer an extroversion question positively, I will get 1 point. After all the questions are answered, each person gets a point. So you get a range of points, which you can plot and find a normal distribution from. The scores (the underlying point count) of the tests are what are normally distributed.

Do you actually see that in people? I do not. At my work it is so clear who is who that over only a few weeks new department sorted itself out to zones for extroverts (non-stop talks and all) and quiet parts for introverts. The divide is extremely clear and it's not only with fringe extremists, it's the majority. The same goes for my friends and relatives, etc.

No there are still people get scores at the tail end of the bell curves for personality tests for introversion / extroversion. It is just that most people are somewhere in between rather than us having a bunch of introverts.

Even when I worked at customer service so everybody was forced to appear and act very social it was quite apparent who is actually enjoying talking to clients whole day and who only puts up the mask for the money, who like to eat/smoke alone even if their friends are in the same shift and who never goes for lunch/smoke break unless 5 of his mates go too.
