Last time we had one of these threads, someone explained that warfarin (commonly used as rat poison) kills rats because when they squeeze through tight holes, they get little internal bleeds, and if they've eaten a shitload of anticoagulant like warfarin, that makes them bleed to death.
An animal that doesn't normally have internal bleeding isn't going to die from it, apparently.
But if the dog ingested strychnine, it'd be dead as a brick in a few hours no matter what you did. Which is part of why they no longer sell strychnine for rat poison.
Also apparently Xylitol makes a good dog poison. 15 grams mixed into a meatball will kill an average pitbull. You can buy it in nearly any grocery store or online, it's sold as a sugar substitute.
