I doubt Sid is going to restock on any if he doesn't already sell them at the start, so, I'm just going to have to hope the next guy I kill has a PM or PB so I can take the magazines from them.
Otherwise, I'll be stuck in a 14-20 second reload process after firing 8 shots from this piece of shit. That's not good. I basically have to get headshots or get fucked.
NPCs aren't even the problem here, I could aim well enough to take care of early enemies with just one Makarov magazine, the AI is pretty easy to cheese when they're just Cordon bandits. But mutants will most likely kill me if I run into any. Specifically a pseudodog pack. That's what killed me half an hour into my last ironman run despite having an MP5.
I don't think eight 9x18 shots into the body are enough to kill even a single pseudodog, maybe barely. So it's either headshots or nothing. Into a really fast dog that has auto-aim which will hit you no matter what if it gets close enough. It probably wouldn't be much of a problem if it were not for that I get low FPS in this game, which makes it hard to aim at points. Mouse-on-ice aiming is not my favorite thing.
And that's if I get lucky and run into a single one. They tend to spawn in packs, so that doesn't help at all.
Honestly, yeah, I'm just dead if I can't find any more magazines and run into a pseudodog pack. Maybe simply running would work? I actually don't think I've tried before, no idea if you're faster than dogs.
I think I'll update when I get to Rostok or die.
