The Christian god Yahweh (YHWH) was originally a semitic pagan God. He was known as the Storm God across most of the semitic tribes. This is why he is often referred to as “in the sky and clouds” and can cause floods, and has many attributes common of other storm gods.

YHWH had a goddess wife named Asherah, and was part of the same Pantheon that included Baal and Moloch, Yahweh was in fact worshipped along side them. The Israelites would even sacrifice children to Yahweh by burning them alive. (This is where the concept of hellfire comes from). YHWH also was the SON of a Supreme god named “El”, Who was revered across the middle east and Anatolia.
