why is quipping such an important part of American culture?

No.16967937 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
I know this board is full of rootin tootin gun shootin 56% gigachad Americans always ready to rabidly defend their libshit fellow Americans from any and all criticism, but bear with me for a minute. Why do Americans need to constantly try to quip and throw out one-liners as though they're on camera in a sitcom show?

I'm not talking about characters in the mcu, I mean Americans you see everywhere, especially online, on places like youtube and twitter. Why do they always have to try and say something funny, even if they have absolutely no comedic chops whatsoever, as though they've been cast as Tony Stark in real life? Is it because so many of them grew up watching shows like the Office that they've subconsciously trained themselves to behave like they're cast members?

It's like someone took "that's what she said" jokes, and then created an entire civilization, or an entirely unique species, based solely upon those jokes, and the end result was America. What gives? Can burgers speculate?
