I used to watch dogs for people when they would go away, they would warn me the dogs were untrained, steal food, jump etc, and usually within 2 days they would be behaving better.
Training a dog is one of the easiest things in the world once you figure it out, there are no wizkid tricks, basically it just comes down to yelling at them for doing the wrong thing, and talking them in a baby voice when they do the right thing. Think of a pack of dogs, you gotta earn their respect by being a leader, it's really not that different than humans.
