And that's to be expected. The historical development of psychiatric meds (and a lot of other meds) was brought about when Rockefeller's Standard Oil started losing popularity with the public and there was heavy pressure on politicians to go after them.
As a result, government started taxing them for dumping raw chemical sewage leftover from processing oil into rivers, something they used to get away with for free.
Then one asshole vice president at a Standard Oil subsidiary came up with the idea of trying to somehow turn the raw waste products of processing oil into a profit engine.
They
(1) bought out a fuck-ton of Harvard medical school professors
(2) brought them over to Johns Hopkins, which at the time was an absolute shit school
(3) invested shit tons of money into Johns Hopkins and let it be widely known that through various Rockefeller-affiliated funds they were willing to support research grants IF it was in the field of how their new "medicines" were "helpful"
(4) Used the prestige of the former Harvard Medical School professors to use Johns Hopkins as a springboard to set up the AMA
(5) Used the AMA to redefine "disease" as "that which can be treated by a drug", which is the sort of circular fuckhead reasoning that now has hearburn classified as a "disease" the moment they came up with prescription drugs for it
